NOOK LOUNGE CHAIR
RAFAEL OLIVA, 2026
The Nook lounge chair proposes an expanded vision of the original Nook chair, a generous, enveloping form that deepens the dialogue between structure and repose. Built on the same two-element logic, the lounge version extends proportions outward and invites the body further in.

The solid wood base grows wider and lower, anchored and grounded, its architecture opening to receive rather than simply support. Against this firmness, the natural leather seat broadens and softens, draping more generously, yielding more completely. In the lounge, the leather does not merely support, it embraces.
The brass ring remains the ceremonial centrepiece: the visible join, the honest fastening, the declaration that craft has been at work here. In the lounge version, this detail takes on added weight, a single golden moment at the junction of wood and leather, where the piece's soul is most legible.
Like all honest materials, the brass will patina, the leather will soften and memorise its owner, and the wood will deepen and warm with time. The Nook lounge chair is designed not for one moment but for many, for the long Sunday afternoon, the evening read, the quiet hour that stretches into the night.
The name holds steady. Inspired by the bird's nest, nature's most elemental act of making shelter, the lounge deepens that invitation. It is the nest made room-sized, a shelter for a longer stay. The form adapts further to each body over time, offering a comfort that is not merely ergonomic but personal and earned.
Born from the same creative dialogue across two continents, the inventive energy of Brazilian design meeting the rigour of Portuguese craftsmanship, united by a shared respect for natural materials and the time it takes to work them well.
