Inspired by the traditional Portuguese Caravela boat, this lounge chair is a tribute to some of the greatest and bravest in Portuguese History.
Caravela is a small, highly manoeuvrable sailing ship developed in the 15th century by the Portuguese to explore along the West African coast and into the Atlantic Ocean. This bold spirit of exploration and discovery is reflected in the chair’s sculptural silhouette and finely crafted details.
Its sweeping curves and fluid lines echo the form of the Caravela’s billowing sails, while the robust solid wood structure pays homage to the ship’s enduring hull. The generous, inviting seat cradles the body with comfort, offering a sense of security and elegance, much like the dependable vessels that once carried explorers across uncharted waters.
Balancing heritage and modernity, the Caravela lounge chair is crafted to stand as a contemporary heirloom. Available in a selection of high-quality woods and upholstery options, it merges the authenticity of artisanal craftsmanship with the practicality of modern design, making it ideal for both residential and hospitality spaces.
Whether placed in a cozy reading corner or a grand living room, the Caravela lounge chair offers more than just comfort, it tells a story of courage, design, and timeless Portuguese legacy.
