Vasco is a round table with a ceramics or glass top that rests with extreme delicacy on a sculptural pedestal base, that gives it harmony and creates the illusion of an object almost in a precarious balance.

The design creates an illusion of balance, making the table appear almost as though it’s suspended in time and space, held in place by a subtle, yet powerful force. The elegant simplicity of the top and base harmoniously combine, giving the table an ethereal quality while maintaining its structural integrity.
The name Vasco is inspired by Vasco da Gama, one of the most courageous Portuguese explorers who discovered the sea route to India in the 15th century. His pioneering journey across unknown waters serves as the perfect metaphor for this table’s innovative design and bold spirit. Just as Vasco da Gama charted new paths across the seas, this table brings a new level of design and exploration to interior spaces.
Drawing from the world of nautical exploration and navigation, the table's concept is deeply rooted in maritime tradition. The double-crossed arch structure beneath the top is an intentional reference to the union of a boat’s keel and traverses, a signature feature of traditional wooden boat hulls. This structural element not only symbolizes the resilience and strength inherent in naval design but also infuses the table with a sense of opposing forces, tensions that reinforce its dynamism.
The combination of these elements, sailing history, architectural rigor, and sculptural balance, imbues Vasco with a distinct energy. The table conveys a sense of movement and determination, as if drawing upon the very forces of nature.
Its visual strength and design precision make it an outstanding piece of furniture, offering both aesthetic beauty and a deep connection to the world of exploration and craftsmanship.
DESIGNERS: VARIAFORMA
Variaforma is a multidisciplinary design studio based in Milan area. It was born as the set of several professional identities that do not mix, but overlap; thus, giving life to the “various forms” of a project.
The sum of various professional skills generates alchemy, useful for analysing and dealing with the project from every point of view, with the aim of offering a multifaceted service, creating projects marked by a strong aesthetic/communicative component.
Efficiency, both of production and use, is always part of our projects. The identity of each project is told through strong graphic expressiveness and functional essentiality.
The studio, founded in 2014 by David Dolcini, Pietro Manfredi and Mauro Corinti, works in the field of product and interior design, architecture, art direction, photography, graphics and design strategy.
