Au revoir, Paris

Every year, since 2012, we go to Paris to show our new designs at Maison & Objet. This year was no exception and, for this 25th edition of the exhibition, we have prepared a quite different concept for our stand.

The main focus was in our new pieces and collaborations, the Vasco table, designed by Variaforma, and the Kobe chairs, designed by Daniel Sousa. Seconded by the iconic Carousel sideboard and a vertical garden.

The main entrance gave access to a corridor made of hydraulic floor resembling the floor of the popular Portuguese houses of the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s, one of the identity symbols of the Mediterranean and Portuguese culture.

The Mediterranean warmth was also present on the right side with a set of Pala chairs, around a Soma table and a Panamá Sideboard.

We don't like to follow trends. We want to create trends. So we step aside from Pantone's colour of the year and we decided that the colour of the year is Oxblood. It was present on the leather of our Kobe chairs, on the tiles and also on the cover of our new catalogue.

Green, yellow and navy blue were also there as complementary colours, enhancing the power of walnut and oak wood and Calacatta and Nero Marquina marbles.

One of the Bowie sofas we had, with green corduroy fabrics, was one of the highlights for the award-winning blog Mad About The House edited by Kate Watson-Smyth, one of the best UK journalists, who’s been writing about property, interiors and design for the last 20 years.

All these materials are part of our selection for this new collection and we presented it as part of our new sample box.

As in the previous years, the decoration of our stand was complemented with pieces from our partners and favourite Portuguese bands Castelbel, Laboratório d’Estórias that always amaze the visitors.

For this edition, we also set up a new partnership with Monica Santos, showing the Inflorescence vase in conjunction with our pieces, adding a touch of sophistication.

Besides the pieces on our stand, we also had Bridge desk on the Best of MOM space as one of the most desired products on the MOM platform in a unique exhibition.
